🌍 IPC at WOAH's "Acting now, investing smart: partner together to tackle AMR" conference
IPC is at the World Organisation for Animal Health global conference “Acting now, investing smart: partner together to tackle AMR.”, represented by its Secretary General, Nicolò Cinotti.
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global challenge that requires coordinated, science-based action across sectors and regions. IPC recognizes the importance of proactively addressing AMR and has worked to align the global poultry meat sector around antimicrobial use stewardship principles and best practices.
Today, 42 organizations across 150 countries, representing nearly 50% of the global poultry meat sector, are supporting these principles. Spanning the entire value chain, from smallholder farmers to fully integrated systems, and from genetics to food service. These stewardship principles include:
– Risk analysis approach to antimicrobial use
– Management practices to avoid the need for antimicrobials
– Compliance with national regulations
– Minimizing the use of critically important antimicrobials
Collaboration is essential to ensuring the continued effectiveness of antimicrobials while safeguarding animal health, food security, and public health.
We look forward to engaging with global partners and contributing to this important dialogue.
