FAO Global Plan of action for sustainable livestock

🌍 A milestone for the future of sustainable livestock.

IPC welcomes the adoption of the FAO Global Plan of Action for Sustainable Livestock Transformation, the first globally negotiated framework dedicated to advancing the sustainable transformation of the livestock sector.

The Plan recognizes the vital role livestock plays in supporting food security, nutrition, livelihoods, resilient food systems, and sustainable development while promoting balanced action across economic, social, and environmental dimensions.

🐔 As the world’s most consumed and most traded meat, poultry has a key role to play in delivering affordable, nutritious food while continuing to improve sustainability through innovation, animal health, responsible resource use, and science-based practices.

Importantly, the Global Plan acknowledges that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Sustainable livestock transformation must reflect regional realities, production systems, and local needs, while fostering collaboration across governments, international organizations, researchers, and industry.

🤝 IPC looks forward to continuing to work with FAO and partners worldwide to support the implementation of the Plan and contribute to resilient, sustainable, and inclusive livestock systems.
