FAO Event: Tackling HPAI Together

Last week, IPC President Ricardo Santin and Secretary General Nicolò Cinotti had the honor of representing our Organization at the FAO Global Dialogue “Tackling High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza Together” in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil.

In the opening session, featuring insightful remarks by Thanawat TiensinMontserrat Arroyo KuribreñaLuis RuaMarcelo Mota, and Brazilian authorities, IPC President emphasized:
– the essential role of poultry meat in global food security
– the urgency of addressing avian influenza with a strong scientific foundation
– the importance of zoning and compartmentalization
– the need to further examine the role of frozen poultry meat

IPC Secretary General joined the panel discussion on “Business and Trade Dimensions of Avian Influenza Control”, highlighting the impact of AI on the poultry meat sector, its implications for market access, and key steps to strengthen zoning and compartmentalization implementation.
