Global Strategy for the Prevention and Control of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza
- Caroline Leroux
The revised GF-TADs' Global Strategy for the Prevention and Control of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) (2024-2033) was launched during a webinar with more than 600 attendees from all around the world.
During the panel discussion IPC’s Secretary General, Nicolò Cinotti, reaffirmed that the poultry meat sector is highly committed to play a key role in controlling and preventing AI and fully supports the implementation of the strategy.
“IPC recognises the role of prevention tools such as vaccines only as part of a broader strategy including biosecurity, flock health management and surveillance.
“At the same time we strongly and firmly advocate for interventions not to have any adverse impact on trade and we encourage Countries to implement and mutually recognize zones and compartments as key steps to contain disease’s spreading.”
